There
are many places of interest around Johannesburg which are not too
far from Edenvale.
Because
Edenvale is situated close the highway it is easy to get to most
of the places of interest. For example, the Zoo is less than 30
minutes drive away, the Bunny Park in Benoni is also only about
30 to 40 minutes away.
Only
a few places are listed so far but this page will keep changing
as I gather more information and photographs.
If
you would like to contribute photographs and information it would
be greatly appreciated.

Gillooly's
Farm is right next to the N3 highway in Senderwood, a short drive
from Edenvale
Every
day except for Sunday entrance is free. Sunday seems to be the most
popular day for visitors. Braai facilities are available all around
the lake. There is a restaurant with seating both indoors and outdoors.

Spend
the day outdoors, take a walk around the lake, have a bite to eat
at the restaurant or just feed the ducks. Gillooly's Farm offers
you an escape from the city without even leaving the city.

WALTER SISULU
NATIONAL BOTANICAL GARDEN |
The
Walter Sisulu (formely Witwatersrand) National Botanical Garden in Roodepoort is a worthwhile
trip to make. There is a restaurant in the garden or you can take
a picnic basket and sit on a blanket under one of the many shady
trees in the park. How you walk around the garden is up to you,
there are paved pathways as well as little dirt paths through the
trees.
The
hide at the water hole is a great place to do some bird watching
from. |

Take
a walk to the waterfall and enjoy the lovely green lawns and gardens
with a variety of South African plants, I'm sure there will be something
there to interest most people.
Benches
under the shady trees offer rest for the weary. The atmosphere is
peaceful and serene.
